Microsoft Plans to Shut Down Popfly

Software firm Microsoft is set to slam its popular mashup service Popfly on August 24, which will include games, websites, references, and resources. 
 

Popfly is a tool that enables users to design web pages and mashups with Microsoft Silverlight rich internet apps. Microsoft reportedly sees the service as irrelevant to its new strategy to combat recession.

 

In a blog posting, Microsoft explained, "We want to thank everyone who registered for and used Popfly."

 

"We have been fortunate enough to see all the innovative mashups, web pages and games you've created since we launched Popfly two years ago, and it's been a pleasure to watch the spirit of creativity flow through a growing Popfly community over the life of the product."
