Microsoft will cork some Window 7 editions to computers with 10.2 inches screen and below. The company will also limit these versions to PCs running low-powered single-core processor at 2GHz.According to Malaysian website TechARP, the versions will include Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Starter for Small Notebook PC and Windows 7 Basic for Small Notebook PC. Microsoft has not confirmed the release of Small Notebook PC edition of its new operating system yet.
TechARP also said Microsoft will be circulating three editions to manufacturers who build netbooks with 10.2-in. or smaller screen, 1GB of memory or lower, a hard disk drive of 250GB or less (or a solid-state drive no larger than 64GB) and a single-core processor no faster than 2GHz.
Windows 7 is scheduled for release later this year, but Microsoft has saved all the juicy details for the big day.
