Microsoft Data Center General Manager Resigns
Microsoft Data Center General Manager Resigns
Microsoft’s Michael Manos is set to step down as Data Services Division general manager. Manos was one of the brains behind the establishment of a global network of data centers which supports Microsoft’s online services. He is an expert in containerized data centers, which is used in attaining highly energy-efficient designs.Manos will take over as the senior vice president of technical services at Digital Realty, watching over the design and construction of his new company’s data centers throughout the globe.
Manos’ decision follows the resignation of James Hamilton, a data center engineer, last December. Hamilton is now with Amazon Web Services. Microsoft has not been ramping up its data centers, a move highly attributed to the ill effects of recession. The company is even planning to trim down its data center spending by $300 million, and push back the construction of a data center in Iowa.
