Microsoft, Yahoo Back in the Negotiating Table

Microsoft is again opening its doors to Yahoo in an effort to outshine Google in the search market. A new deal is reported to be in the works, although a full buyout is highly unlikely.

Microsoft is hoping to top Google, the current search engine leader, through collaborating with Yahoo. Microsoft's Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Turner, said the software company intends to form an alliance with Yahoo now that a new chief executive has been appointed.

Turner said, “They have a new CEO, and she’s formulating her business plans."

“We’ve certainly made her aware and the Yahoo! board aware that if they are ever interested in an opportunity to partner with them on search, we’d like to sit down and at least have the conversation. It has to make economic sense to both parties.”

Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz has recently announced a major management reorganization to ensure that Yahoo's position in the search industry remains firm.  Yahoo is currently trailing behind Google and followed by Microsoft.
