Majority of Companies Will Ignore Windows 7 Upgrade, Research Says

According to desktop and server management company Scriptlogic, 6 out of 10 businesses will most probably choose to retain their OS and avoid Windows 7 upgrade. 
 

The research, which was participated by more than  20,000 IT executives from 1,000 firms, revealed that 60 percent have no plans of installing Microsoft's new operating system, Windows 7. Among the reasons cited were time and resources, as well as application compatibility and deployment/migration issues.

 

Companies are also aiming to save costs by  holding on to their installed OS. Around 66 percent of those polled further said one of the most effective cost-cutting measures is disregarding OS upgrades. Only 29 percent said the perfect way to cut cost is software investment. 

 

Furthermore, 5.4 percent of the participants said they plan to install Windows before the end of 2009. About 33 percent intends to implement Windows 7 upgrade by the end of next year.
