IBM has introduced its cloud-based productivity suite, a competitive move against rival Google.

The LotusLive iNotes, will be launched next week, costing users $36 (£22) per year. Although Google has been quite successful with all of its investments, one factor that sets IBM ahead of the search giant is its vast experience in dealing with businesses. IBM is usually seen as a source of consumer-type services that produces revenue from ad placement.

IBM's new offering is also cheaper than that of Google's Apps Premier, which costs $50 (£33) per user per year. The Apps Premier offers 25 GB of storage and 99.9 per cent uptime guarantee. However, Google failed to live up to its promise when two outages took place last month.
