IBM Faces Anti-Trust Probe

IBM is currently under fire for allegedly violating anti-trust policies. The US Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating the firm for taking advantage of its market position in mainframe business.

The probe came following a complaint filed by the Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA). The group encouraged the DOJ to initiate the investigation on IBM’s attempt of withdrawing OS licences from non-IBM hardware users.

IBM is also charged of striking back on business partners seen as disloyal, merging its mainframe operating systems with hardware, and procuring hardware startup PSI to repress competition. The firm has vehemently refuted all allegations.
