IBM Discovers New Technology for Faster CPUs
IBM has announced has discovered a technology that could trim down power consumption and accelerate CPU performance. This is also applicable to servers and other devices. This new technology minimizes the test memory chips of CPU’s to 22 nanometers and allows processors to have additional features. The memory chips, also known as SRAM or static random access memory cells, are part of a CPU where data is temporarily stored before being processed. SRAM is a little more expensive, but faster and considerably less power hungry. IBM and its partners spearheaded the research on SRAM which it now uses to beat its rival companies.
