Google Unleashes Android Source Code
Search giant Google has finally released Android's source code which is now available at no cost at the Android Open Source project website. With the distribution of the open source code, Google anticipates the coming out of various applications as well as low-cost and faster phones. According to Andrew Shikiar, director of global marketing for the LiMo Foundation, Android will be in wide circulation under the Apache license by which developers don't need to share the alterations made to the code back with the community.
Android is a software platform and operating system for mobile devices, based on the Linux kernel, developed by Google and later the Open Handset Alliance. It enables developers to write managed code in a Java-like language that employs Google-developed Java libraries. However, it does not support programs built in native code.
