Google Promotes Next Version of HTML
Google announced plans to promote the next version of HTML at the firm's developer conference, which took place at the Moscone Center.HTML 5 is still on its early stages, but the technology has been used in trial demos.
Google engineering Vice President Vic Gundotra stated on his keynote, “HTML 5 offers us a chance to do things differently."
He also pointed that the web has evolved over the years, and Javascript has played an integral part in the developing faster browser performance. Gundotra showed several videos during his keynote, showing HTML 5 demos. The demos showed the “five components of HTML 5 Google is most excited about.”
At the same keynote, Google criticized Microsoft's failure to support HTML 5 in its latest IE version. The browser has an experimental geolocation support, but it doesn't support HTML 5 video playback, canvas, or web workers.
Meanwhile, Microsoft claimed it doesn't support "untested technologies into its browser code." The firm has Silverlight playback feature and it doesn't want to promote a technology that could compromise its own.
