Google Earth 5.0 has updated images of Mars and the ancient maps of the planet. Users can now  can go on virtual flybys with NASA’s Mars Odyssey and Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, and get guided tours of the planet from Public Radio’s Ira Flatow and Bill Nye, the Science Guy.

Google Earth is a a virtual globe, map and geographic information program, initially named as Earth Viewer. It was built by Google acquired company  Keyhole, Inc. Its images are taken from satellite imagery, aerial photography and GIS 3D globe.

Its latest version provides three modes in viewing the images -- Earth, Sky, and Mars. Users can choose to view latest pictures of Mars or antique maps by astronomers Giovanni Schiaparelli, Percival Lowell, among others. A guided audio tour helps users take a good view at the planet. Satellite images taken by NASA THEMIS camera onboard the Mars Odyssey spacecraft can also be seen.
