Google Builds Security Software That Reveals Hidden Identity

Google has designed a software, Google Safe, that prompts users of potential malicious page. The service leaves traces to browsers which reveal the identity of users connected through a proxy server.

With Google Safe, browsers are embedded with a full list of sites Google treats as harmful. Every time users try to browse these sites, a warning on potential infection pops up on their screen. The only drawback is Google doesn’t mask machines running on proxy sites.

To avoid having to choose between security and anonymity, users may disable the auto-update feature in their browser. However, this is not advisable because auto-updates protect users from malware and phishing sites.
