Firefox Update Triggers Problems to Users
Users running Firefox together with Norton security programs are complaining of glitches right after updating the browser's latest version, Firefox 3.0.1. Mozilla accounted the reports to be true and that the problems were related to Identity Safe, a feature of Norton 360 and other Norton and Symantec products. Mozilla's director for Firefox Mike Beltzner, however, said that the glitches may not be related to Identity Safe alone. Most of the users who updated to Firefox 3.0.0 reported that they had lost their bookmarks as well as the back and forward buttons of the browser. Symantec customers, on the other hand, complained that they have lost the Identity Safe feature, a password manager tied up with several Symantec security products.
Mike Beltzner said both companies, Mozilla and Symantec, are devoting much of their time finding out what elicited the problem.
