Facebook Fixes Code Error

Social networking site Facebook has patched a code error that accidentally handed administrative access to a user.  The error allowed Tom Krieglstein, founder of a technology training firm Swift Kick, to control 17 Facebook pages owned by Microsoft, Soutwest Airlines and American Airlines.  A page dedicated to Star Wars movie was also exposed, allowing Krieglstein to communicate with its 825,000 fans.

Upon realizing he had administrative access, Krieglstein sent a test link to the Star Wars group and eventually gained 450 viewers.

"I was just looking at my pages. I noticed that it was showing me other companies," Krieglstein said.

Facebook regarded the incident as an isolated case.  The company explained, "Administrative rights were erroneously restored in this case because the user was the original creator of the pages referenced.  The error has been fixed, and we have received no other reports about this issue."
