Dell Positive About Sun Takeover

Michael Dell says he's seeing a positive business turnaround with the possible Sun takeover. He claims customers are hesitant about the Sun's Solaris-based servers and are more likely to set their eyes on a different direction. 
 

Dell said, "Just the rumour of IBM potentially purchasing Sun creates an enormous opportunity because all of the Sun accounts are very concerned what will happen to the Solaris platform and Sparc microprocessor."

 

"I think this accelerates the migration (to x86-based servers) and sends a lot of those accounts into an opportunity," Dell added.

 

Dell is trailing behind IBM and HP in the server market. With Sun's takeover, the company is confident it will top other industry rivals, including Cisco who recently announced a range of new servers.
