Companies Still Use Microsoft Exchange 2003 Despite Release of Newer Version
A recent survey showed that companies stay reserved when it comes to Microsoft Exchange Server upgrade.Star Internet, an internet service provider, launched the survey, wherein 57 percent of the respondents admitted they are still using Exchange 2003. Another 58 percent said they had no intentions of upgrading to the latest version. Among the reasons pointed were licensing costs and training investment for a new software.
The survey further revealed that majority of companies have no plans of using a hosted version of the Exchange software.
On the contrary, an increase in Exchange 2007 usage was seen, mainly because of the large number of employees working from home. Star Internet said the new version sports an enhanced remote access handling which is vital in mobile or work-from-home jobs.
Microsoft Exchange 2007 allows users to launch Office and PDF files in web browsers. Contacts, documents, and shared calendars are also easily accessible. Its security features are improved, enabling users to remotely delete data from their devices in cases of theft or loss.
