Apple Pays $19 Million for Patent Infringement
A Texas court has asked Apple to pay $19m for patent infringement. OPTi Inc, a chip manufacturer, owned the patent of a data transfer procedure, also known as 'predictive snooping of cache memory for master-initiated accesses.'The case set off on 2007, by which Apple strongly claimed that the patent was baseless due to "prior art" and "obviousness."
Apple CEO Steve Jobs maintained he was oblivious of the inappropriate backdating stock options. Jobs was not charged for approving an option grant amounting to five million shares to various Apple execs.
Jobs previously explained to the Securities and Exchange Commission that he requested the board for the grants becaue Apple had to keep key personnel.
