Apple Brings iPhone to China

Apple has sealed a deal to distribute iPhone in China. The multiyear deal will allow iPhone sales in the country by next quarter.

Apple has sealed an agreement with China Unicom, although the financial aspects of the deal have not been disclosed. Unicom would pioneer the sale of iPhone in China, but unlocked units have been widely marketed in the area.

Reports from Chinese media revealed the company has closed a three-year exclusive deal to sell the iPhone and is set to acquire 5 million handsets for 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion). China Unicom chairman and CEO Chang Xiaobing, however, denied these reports.

Unicom is one of the biggest phone companies in China, but is trailing behind China Mobile. The firm is expecting a boost in its market share with the iPhone deal.
