AMD Seeks Ways to Save Costs
Advance Micro Devices announce it would find ways to cut costs, including facility shut down. The move is geared towards restructuring the company and bring back profitability. The restructuring may involve integration of facilities as AMD attempts to centralize operations. The cost-cutting measures will lead to supplementary charges for the remaining month in the current fiscal year. However, AMD could not specify the exact amount.
In January, AMD cut 1,100 jobs and reduced salaries to save operational costs. AMD hopes to get a break even by yearend.
AMD is a California-based American multinational semiconductor company that builds computer processors and other related technologies. It is the second-largest global supplier of microprocessors based on the x86 architecture after Intel Corporation. It is also the third-largest supplier of graphics processing units.
