Altor Releases Firewall for Virtual Systems

Altor Networks has recently introduced a firewall designed for virtual environments.


Traditional firewalls for virtual systems have had various flaws and the release of the new software, dubbed as Altor VF, hopes to finally overcome these shortcomings.



The Altor VF enforces security policy on a per virtual machine basis. In contrast to to existing firewalls created for physical networks, Altor VF has the ability to secure Live Migration, a technology designed to trigger automatic movement of VMs across physical servers, but capable of inadvertently moving an application to a less trusted network. Moreover, the new software supports a more constricted security policy and is easier to use. It also provides NetFlow statistics, Sys Log, and other network statistics on a per application basis.



Altor Networks is a software company based in Redwood City, California. It offers monitoring and firewall software to audit inter-VM traffic, as well as enforce security policies.
