Competition on the free software market is increasing now that IT company Symantec has decided to offer free IT security software available for download on the Internet. Every IT connectivity users can get it. This move comes after Microsoft broke the ice on the market by providing free anti-virus as well. This means that Symantec felt a tad vulnerable to Microsoft's offerings so it decided to do something.Symantec's free IT product is called Norton Safe Web Lite and its role is to provide warnings before users click on a potentially risky link when trying to follow links from search engine results. An important thing to keep in mind is that the product works with Google, Yahoo and Bing. Con Mallon, product marketing director at Symantec said that "We really believe this generation of Norton software is really fantastic stuff. These are little tasters we're putting out there. Obviously, we'd like to move you to the subscription suite."
