UK Law Firm Targets File Sharers

Davenports Lyons have been working with the music industry to prosecute file sharers. Now, it will ask the UK courts to compel ISPs to reveal information to pinpoint those who are into P2P sharing.
About 7,000 individuals are under the firms investigation and will be subjected to a civil lawsuit once accurate information is gathered. Representatives will be seeking an order from the High Court to use the information in support of the cases to be filed against them. The number may even climb high up to 25, 0000 game sharers. The firm is offering a settlement of £300 ($563 USD) and the first 500 who will disregard the actions will be part of the first wave of lawsuits.

Some critics say that the firm's rough action  is going nowhere as many of these individuals won't even show in court to defend themselves. It may deter these P2P sharers for a while, but most of them will  be back once the coast is clear and the issue has died down.
