NSA, Bush, Cheney Faces Charges for Warrantless Wiretaps

The National Security Agency, American President George Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and a number of other administration officials were sued by the Electronic Frontier Foundation for its warrantless wiretapping program. The case was filed on behalf of AT&T customers.

EFF's lawsuit seeks to cease NSA's net surveillance on millions of ordinary Americans and to penalize those who unlawfully approved it. The American government, particulary the NSA, is alleged to be monitoring regular American citizens in its effort to find potential terrorists in the US. The NSA gained access to networks of telecommunication companies without any court intercession.

The EFF argues that the wiretapping program should be terminated as it violates AT&T customers' first and fourth amendment rights. The lawsuit was was filed by the EFF and five other AT&T customers namely Carolyn Jewel, Tash Hepting, Gregory Hicks, Erik Knutzen and Joice Walton.
