London Stock Exchange Computer Crash Causes Outrage
Trading on the London Stock Exchange was ceased for seven hours sending customers in an outrage. Another big blow followed when technical malfunctins hit the London platform of the U.S.-based ICE commodities electronic exchange - over-the-counter trading and futures trading.The blackout at the LSE is purported to be the worst since mid-2000 which came out as a huge humiliation on LSE's part. Connections to its trading system was halted at about 9:00 am and was resumed at 4:00 pm. The outage cooled off trading, with the index skulking up a tad ending at 3.9 per cent at 5,446.30.
The London Stock Exchange is one of the largest stock exchanges in the world, with many overseas listings as well as British companies.
