Cellular Networks Prepare for Gustav

Major cellular companies are preparing for Tropical Storm Gustav as it is expected to hit the U.S. Gulf Coast. They all have learned their lessons wth Katrina which cost them millions of dollars in damages. Now, cellular networks are also shelling out  several millions on expanding emergency response team and building new digital cell sites to battle possible destruction brought by the tropical storm.
All the cellular providers offered tips to users when a storm hits and wireless networks are clogged.  One very practical tip is to text instead of calling as text places less demands on networks. Another is to  carry extra batteris for cell phones and use a car adapter for recharging the phone battery in the cars.
