Yahoo Includes More Pictures and Videos to Search Engine Ads
In a stiff competition with rival search engine Google, Yahoo has opted to liven up its ads by displaying more videos and pictures. Ads posted in search resullts were previously shown in plain text.Yahoo explained it has met with a small group of advertisers last year and figured that around 25 percent of customers click on ads. The advertisers tried using Rich Ads and Yahoo announced on Thursday it intends to open it to a large pool of advertisers. Yahoo's Jeff Sweat said, “Ever since we launched pay-per-click advertising, the ads have looked more or less the same: A headline, a line of ad copy, a link.”
Yahoo! intoduced its new Internet advertisement sales system on February 5, 2007, dubbed as Panama. It enables advertisers to bid for search terms according to their popularity to display their ads on search results pages. The advertising system seeks to cater more significant search results to users, and allow them to earn more from the ads it displays.
