Web Site Hacks Still on the Rise in Q2
According to Akamai,a web app performance management firm, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks and web site hacks have continued to vexed firms through out the second quarter this year. The research concluded that SQL injection and cross-site scripting attacks are the most popular methods used by hackers for web site breach. The top level domains (TLD) oftent infected are .hk and .cn.
The report revealed .info as the most dangerous generic TLD which had a record high of 11.8 percent rate from the sites tested. A TLD is the last part of an Internet domain name; that is, the letters that follow the final dot of any domain name.
DDOS attacks also plagued most firms last quarter, mostly causing a week-long disruption in web operations. A distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack) is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. It is used to prevent an Internet site or service from functioning efficiently or at all, temporarily or indefinitely.
