US to Challenge China's Web Censors

The US is has decided to find out if it can challenge Chinese internet restrictions on the legal area because of the fact that IT companies that operate in the country were affected. So, IT services providers and Google are asked questions in order to help this investigation. This case would be the first one that speaks about the effects of censorship on IT companies and IT connectivity providers that operate in China.

S trade representative Ron Kirk said that "We are still dialoguing not just with Google, but with other internet providers, to make sure we fully understand what is happening in China. And US trade officials are trying to make our own determination whether we believe in fact this is not WTO [World Trade Organisation] compliant and if the best resolution is to go forward and file an appeal." Since the attacks on Google, the IT company has been in talks with China about leaving the country, but nothing certain has happened yet.
