US ISPs to Advertise Average Broadband Speeds

As part of the US National Broadband Plan, every IT services provider in the US might have to show their IT services for IT connectivity users with average and top speeds in a ‘performance sticker’. This national plan has been submitted to the Congress earlier this week. According to this part of the plan, ISPs would have to say even what speeds suit email, VoIP, video streaming or multiple users online.

This means that ISPs would be forced to present labels that have “simple and clear data that a ‘reasonable consumer’ can understand, while providing more detailed disclosure for more interested parties such as tech-savvy consumers, software developers and entrepreneurs designing products for the network”. The reason why this labels have been included in the National Broadband is that people should be able to see the real offers that IT companies have for them and also see the differences in a competitive market place.
