US Accepts Iran Not Having Sanctions
The US has decided to lift sanctions on Iran, Cuba and Sudan when talking about IT services offered by IT companies. These countries will benefit from Internet browsing, instant messaging and other communication tools. The reason of this decision is the fact that the US wants to promote freedom of speech within the countries. Software companies are allowed to export free, mass-market IT products. The companies allowed to do this are Google, Microsoft and Yahoo and the software in question includes blogging tools, email, instant messaging, social networking, and photo and movie sharing. Deputy Treasury Secretary Neil Wolin said that "Today's actions will enable Iranian, Sudanese and Cuban citizens to exercise their most basic rights." Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that "In the 21st century, expression and assembly are carried out on the internet as well as in person. So we're going to continue to support those Iranians who wish to circumvent and be able to communicate without being blocked by their own government."
