UK Gets Cyber-Scam Crackdown Team

The UK government has decided to invest in a team that would be specialized in IT security issues, that would fight crime on the Internet. So, UK citizens that use IT services such as IT connectivity will feel safer. Also, the government allocated extra funding for Trading Standards in order to fight better online scams. According to a report, these scams result in 3.5 billion pounds losses.

So there will be a very big sum of money invested in training and appointment of IT engineers in every region of England and in Scotland and Wales. The OFT teams will follow very serious online scams and fight against them. After that, cases will be taken care of by the police, Serious and Organised Crime Agency and other agencies that deal with such things. In order to understand better the role of the OFT, the team may be compared to the US Federal Trade Commission.
