Televisa to Boost Broadband Speed

In order to compete with Telmex, the cable unit of media giant Televisa, IT company Cablevision, will have its IT service provided to its customers at a higher speed. Televisa Executive Vice President Alfonso de Angoitia said on the microblogging Internet site Twitter, that "Cablevision will offer this year more than 10 Mb (megabits per second) across Mexico City and surrounding areas at very affordable prices."

The Twitter post was confirmed by a spokesperson from Televisa but there was no change on Cablevision's website. This happens after last week, Telmex said that it would provide IT connectivity with a broadband speed to 10Mb. Even though Telmex is the leader when talking about providing Internet service, Televisa has very interesting offers with affordable prices per package, which includes television, online and phone services. It seems that Televisa wants to launch its own wireless phone network.
