Japanese service Oshaberi Terebi was launched to offer real-time chat rooms for TV addicts. The service is made to give users a convenient way of chatting while watching their favorite shows online.
Users are required to download a software, afterwhich, they will be given the option to interact in separate chatrooms for each channel. Users can also choose avatars and dally with whoever is watching the same shows.
Oshaberi Terebi compels user to watch the mobile version of digital TV known in Japan as 1-seg, which can be added to a computer through a USB dongle for around £50. This application is limited to PC users, but is expected to be used in mobile phones if proven commercially successful.
