Political Parties Gang up against Digital Economy Bill
The Digital Economy Bill is about: IT connectivity users that would be left without broadband if they use this IT service from their IT company in order to make illegal transfers, file sharing. The problem is that the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats have decided to gang up against the Digital Economy Bill and want to defeat the most discussed part of the bill, Clause 17.On Monday, the bill will be voted on in the House of Commons. Both political parties have announced their concerns regarding this issue. The Liberal Democrats said that “We were originally sceptical of the clause because the scope was too wide and this hasn’t changed. Some of the amendments even increased the scope. The Government’s responses have been too veiled. People within the industry were very specific on what the clause should be used for but instead the Government is being extremely vague.”
