Phorm May Offer Incentives to Users
Phorm, a digital technology company, is assenting to pay users to in exchange of signing up for its behavioural advertising scheme. Phorm CEO Kent Ertugrul said the company is thinking of offering broadband discounts to customers and donating to charity. This is to get users to use its service, the Webwise.Phorm will be working with BT in pushing Webwise to the public, although the company did not disclose th percentage of BT subscribers who registered for the opt-in service. Ertugrul said, "We're not in a position to comment on the specifics of the trial."
Ertugrul also announced that BT is the real brain behind Webwise.
"BT has been very forthcoming. It's paved the way for the tranformation of the ISPs' business model."
"We're particularly excited about where we can go with this," he added. "I think you'll see our confidence is justified. We're very satisfied with where it [Webwise] is already."
