Online Advertising Market Boosts Despite Recession
The recession has not affected the online advertising market, proving that the industry remains standing strong despite global financial woes.A report from IAB, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the World Advertising Research Centre revealed that online advertising spending soared by 4.6 percent during the first six months of this year. Online expenses went up to £1.75, which constitutes 23.5 percent of the entire advertising industry.
"Internet advertising has beaten all expectations to achieve growth in the most challenging market conditions," IAB chief executive Guy Phillipson said.
"Online display has performed notably well against its peers in TV, print and radio, despite more than £1.5bn being wiped off the advertising industry. We have a rollercoaster of a year ahead but, even in tough economic conditions, marketers still recognise the value, accountability and measurability of online advertising."
