Lycos Europe Might Be Closing in to a Sell-Off

Lycos Europe is deemed to sell off if it doesn't recover from a terrible loss of €9.8 million ($15.2 million) in just half a year. Their revenues collapsed from €41.2 million ($64.1 million) to €33.3 million ($51.8 million). The company is gaging to "mainly focus on the product offensive in order to stabilise the traffic”.  Like most the of recent updates, the company will be focusing on Lycos iQ - a clone to Yahoo Answers.

Lycos is a search engine and web portal centered around broadband entertainment content. It enjoyed several years of growth and became the most visited online destination in the world with a global presence in more than 40 countries in 1999. Lycos Europe was a joint venture between Bertelsmann and Lycos, but has always been a distinct corporate entity. Although Lycos Europe is the largest of the overseas ventures, several other companies also entered into joint venture agreements, including Lycos Canada, Lycos Korea, and Lycos Asia. Lycos Networks usage policy has been under fire since the many mergers with related sites, especially web hosting.
