Google Pays for Chrome Bug Reports

Because it's easier this way, IT company Google has decided to pay IT engineers that discover critical IT security bugs in its Chrome browser IT product and report them privately. This a new little project that Google has announced on Thursday and it regards researchers that don't work near the IT company. This is a result of complaints researchers have made because of the fact that they discover bugs and don't get anything in response.

A researcher, Dino Dai Zovi, said that this move is "a step in the right direction because it's compensating security researchers for their time in looking for vulnerabilities. A lot of companies treat vulnerabilities as accidental discoveries, which is really not the case." In order to use IT Support to solve security issues, Google will offer a base reward of $500 for certain reports and as much as $1,337 for "high and critical impact bugs."
