First Internet Addiction Center Opens in the USA

The very first internet addiction center in the US has been built in Fall City, Washington.The center, named restart, is located near Microsoft's Redmond headquarters. It was built to aid internet and video game buffs conquer their addiction on gaming, gambling, chatting, texting, among other aspectsof web dependence. 

 

Research says around six to 10 percent of the online population is addicted to the internet. Gamers who are playing MMOGS seemed to have the higher degree of web addiction. Restart claims the US has not been seriously addressing the problem with web addiction. It aims to call the government's attention to resolve the issue.

 

The program includes individual and group therapy, life-skills coaching, cooperative living, physical and nutritional education, mindfulness training, skill building and 12-step meetings.It was co-founded by Cosette Rae, MSW, and Hilarie Cash, PhD.
