FCC Mandates Net Neutrality Among Companies Participating Broadband Expansion
The US Federal Communications Commission has directed companies planning to enlist in the government's broadband expansion program to practice net neutrality.The FCC announced that telephone companies need to adhere with its Internet Policy Statement. The policy includes the directive for networks not to restrict access in reference hardware, software applications or service provider.
FCC chairman Julius Genachowski stated, "We must evaluate the nation's deployment of broadband, including via federal grants."
"And we must ensure that our broadband infrastructure and services advance national purposes, including job creation and economic growth."
