China and India: The World's Broadband Leaders
Analyst and consulting firm, Ovum, foresees China and India to overtake Western Europe in terms of the number of broadband connections. Ovum noted that broadband services in the said regions will most likely decline which in turn will increase demand. China and India are still adopting DSL, and Ovum expects this to continue over the next few years. The growing competition of broadband services will urge the Internet Service Providers to lower down their prices; thus, making it possible for ordinary internet users to acquire broadband services with higher bandwidth. Ovum expects revenue increases in China and India to US$18.1 billion by 2012 which will be more than 40% of the global market.
