Facebook Fixes Code ErrorSocial networking site Facebook has patched a code error that accidentally handed administrative access to a user.  The error allowed Tom Krieglstein, founder of a technology training firm Swift Kick, to control 17 Facebook pages owned by Microsoft, Soutwest Airlines and American Airlines.  A page dedicated to Star Wars movie was also exposed, allowing Krieglstein to communicate with its 825,000 fans.

Free Detection Tool for Conficker ReleasedResearchers have released a free detection service designed for Conficker which enables IT departments to remotely scan their network for possible Conficker attack.  The tool distinguishes compuer systems infected by the fast-growing worm.  It was built by Honeynet Project, a non-profit research group, with the assistance of security research Dan Kaminsky.

Largest Cyber-Espionage Network UnveiledResearchers based at the Munk Center for International Studies at the University of Toronto claim they have uncovered a massive network operated by cyber-spooks.  The network, also known as Ghost Net, is ran in China and has already breached 1,295 computers across 103 countries.

Ebay Creates Bespoke Version of Internet Explorer 8Ebay has recently launched a bespoke version of Internet Explorer 8 available to all Ebay bidders except those residing in the UK.  The bespoke browser will not be available in ebay.co.uk, although the company guarantees the feature will be offered in the UK next week.
